The goal of our institute is to research different aspects of media and applications in today's and future IT systems.
Currently, we focus on 3D graphics and rendering, systems for ubiquitous computing, human-computer interaction (HCI), and applications.
The members of the computer graphics research group, headed by Prof. Alexander Keller, are among the leading scientists worldwide developing new methods for rendering realistic 3D images.
The quasi-Monte Carlo methods developed here are used in many current cinema productions.
Coming from a strong background in distributed computing, our Ubicomp research group, headed by Prof. Michael Weber, specializes on different aspects of ubiquitous computing systems.
Our primary focus is in mobile ad hoc networks, distributed middleware, human-computer interaction in ubicomp application scenarios, as well as privacy and security aspects of ubiquitous computing.
Some application-oriented projects heavily use web technologies in eMedicine scenarios.
